Pre Metro Visited by Transport Journalist

Renowned transport journalist Peter Plisner recently visited Pre Metro to learn more about our exciting plans to expand service provision to Brierley Hill, and Dudley Bus Interchange.

Peter, a former BBC correspondent with over 30 years of experience reporting on transport issues, now writes for many key transport publications through his own company, Clever Conclusions.

During the visit, Peter was impressed by our remarkable reliability track record, which has consistently supported the service performance of West Midlands Trains – averaging 99.6% PPM.

The visit also provided us with an opportunity to highlight the affordability and value for money of our  Very Light Rail (VLR) solution compared to traditional rail and Metro systems. The Shuttle demonstrated how VLR offers a cost-effective, efficient, and sustainable alternative for enhancing regional connectivity.

Discussions also focused on the underutilised dual-track freight line between Stourbridge and Brierley Hill, which currently sees only three daily freight services.

We are still exploring the potential of repurposing this line to serve passenger needs and optimise existing infrastructure for community benefit. Additionally, the possibility of shared metro lines from Brierley Hill to Dudley was discussed as part of our vision to deliver integrated, accessible transport solutions.

We hope Mr Plisner left with a deep appreciation of our small but innovative service, as well as our approach and commitment to transforming local rail services.

For now, we will continue to lead the way in providing sustainable, reliable, and affordable transportation for the West Midlands.
