Supporting the 2023 Stourbridge Military Vehicle Parade
The Stourbridge Shuttle was delighted to have supported last week’s Military Vehicle Parade celebrations across the Town Centre.
The event, aimed at raising funds for the Royal British Legion, was a remarkable display of community spirit and remembrance.
Building upon last year’s inaugural parade, Shuttle Driver David Spruce organised this year’s event to unite the community and pay tribute to our military heritage.
In the lead-up to the Armistice Day parade, Mr Spruce and a group of vintage vehicle enthusiasts made a heartfelt visit to Parkfield Grange Nursing Home on November 6th.
They brought not only a selection of military vehicles but also shared tea and cakes with the residents, who could not attend the parade.
Adding a unique touch to this year’s Remembrance Day celebrations, the Shuttle sponsored a shop window dressing contest for local businesses, fostering a creative tribute to our veterans.
Judged by Pre Metro Director Steve Jasper, Stourbridge MP Suzanne Webb, and David Spruce, the contest witnessed great participation from the community.
Winners included Mary Stevens Hospice Shop in first, Infinity Financial Services in second, and The Thrift Charity Shop in third; with Eyewise Opticians and V.I.P’s Hair Salon receiving ‘Highly Commended’ accolades.
Our Director, Steve Jasper, shared his pride in sponsoring this year’s events.
“We were very proud to sponsor this year’s shop front competition and parade. All the entrants did a fantastic job and several charities will benefit from their efforts. It’s always heartening to see the community come together to support such a worthy cause.”
The final highlight of last week’s celebrations was the Military Vehicle Parade itself, taking place at noon on Armistice Day. Starting on the High Street, a procession of vehicles drove through the streets and concluded on display at Canal Street by The Bonded Warehouse.
The parade saw a spectacular line-up of military vehicles, including a tank as crowds lined the streets in a show of support and remembrance. The event was also attended by WMCA Mayor Andy Street and Stourbridge MP Suzanne Webb.
We have to extend a special acknowledgement to Dave Spruce, whose organisational skills and dedication were pivotal in bringing the Remembrance celebrations to life in Stourbridge and in supporting the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
His continued commitment to supporting community events and initiatives that honour our history and foster a sense of unity and pride showcase why he is a credit to Pre Metro.
