On the 2nd of October, our Stourbridge Shuttle team welcomed Stourbridge MP Cat Eccles and local Councillor Jason Griffin to discuss the future of Shuttle operations and the exciting vision for the proposed “Dasher” project, which seeks to connect Stourbridge with Canal Street, enhancing local transport links.

Pre Metro Director Steve Jasper hosted the meeting at the Shuttle depot, where Cat Eccles and Jason Griffin toured the facility.

They then rode the Shuttle to view a potential new depot site alongside the current Stourbridge Branch Line, providing valuable insight into future development plans.

As part of the visit, the group explored potential station stops along the proposed Dasher route, linking Stourbridge with Brierley Hill.

This connection is expected to benefit local commuters and businesses significantly by improving accessibility and boosting economic activity.

The meeting offered Cat Eccles MP and Councillor Griffin an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the proposals, ask key questions, and explore key development sites along the potential route.

“We’re thrilled with the positive response and strong support from Cat Eccles MP and Councillor Jason Griffin,” said Steve Jasper.

“Their enthusiasm marks a significant step forward as we work to expand transport options for the people of Stourbridge.”

Both Eccles and Griffin expressed their commitment to supporting the project, with MP Eccles eager to help the team engage with local leaders, including Mayor Richard Parker, to advance the plans.

Soon, the Pre Metro team hopes to bring the local council and MP Eccles to visit the Revolution VLR test site, where they will learn more about the next generation rolling stock that could potentially connect Stourbridge and Dudley in the future.

As the Stourbridge Shuttle and Dasher project continues to progress, the initiative is set to enhance local connectivity, ease traffic congestion, and significantly reduce travel times for the community.
